Biography

Dr. Thomas Pratz is a dedicated Spanish educator and research practitioner specializing in World Language education. He holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Rowan University, a Master of Arts in Spanish Language & Cultures from Universidad de Salamanca (Spain), and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Spanish, K-12 Subject Matter Education, and Modern Languages & Linguistics from Rowan University. His academic journey reflects a steadfast commitment to advancing language education through curriculum innovation, culturally responsive teaching, and global perspectives.
 
As an adjunct professor and high school teacher, Dr. Pratz emphasizes communication-based instruction to foster language proficiency and inspire intercultural competence. His teaching philosophy integrates authentic cultural experiences to engage students and connect language learning to real-world contexts. He has collaborated with the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and Universidad de Salamanca to align Spanish proficiency assessments with updated ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines, contributing to advancing global language standards. Dr. Pratz’s research centers on curricular programming, curriculum coherence, and instructional leadership. He examines how curriculum models and teaching practices influence student learning and offers actionable recommendations for implementing effective, inclusive language programs. He has shared his findings through academic conferences, professional workshops, and institutional consultations. 
 
Beyond the classroom, Dr. Pratz leads international student trips, providing learners with immersive cultural experiences that deepen their understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures. His extensive travels to over 30 countries, including Brazil, Cuba, Egypt, Guatemala, and Peru, enrich his teaching and advocacy for social justice. Dr. Pratz is committed to empowering students and educators, championing language education's transformative power to foster cultural appreciation and global citizenship.
